You and your colleagues are invited for a new workshop discussion on demand chain management on February 25, 2009 in Shanghai.

We are caught in this current situation, wondering how to manage demand through this uncertain time.  The answer is not simply to try to forecast better.

The answer is Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).  One can certainly always manage demand better but the entire organisation needs to collaborate more effectively.  S&OP is not just a way of balancing your demand and supply numbers, it is the way to integrate your entire business and to manage, including reacting to, change more effectively and efficiently. Indeed, S&OP is the management process to integrate product, demand, supply, finance and strategy.

In this worshop, we will present the views of a focused group that has been working in recent months to adapt the western notion of S&OP to the context of China.  Building on this, we will discuss how things went well in implementing S&OP in the Chinese operation of a multinational chemical company and, in contrast, also the peculiar challenges encountered in a major Chinese electronics manufacturing company.

Why our workshops are different?
- Unlike committees organized by the Chambers of Commerce, this workgroup series is strictly restricted to supply chain professionals.
- This workgroup series is also organized in an "informal" setting (e.g. selected quiet restaurants) as good food (and drinks) tend to foster discussion and "openness" between the participants.
