Event Description You and your colleagues are invited to join the Council for a new Customs Practitioners Group (CPG) on September 26 in Shanghai.
The CPG aims to establish a forum where those with customs and indirect tax responsibilities in the Asia Pacific region can network together to share common issues and concerns and to further the interests of manufacturers, importers and exporters who are concerned with the impact of customs and indirect taxes. The aim is to: - Discuss aspects of subjects which are of general concern - Exchanging information, in order to benefit member’s better understanding of the practical workings of the law and interpretation of the law by customs administrations in Asia - Provide technical training on customs matters. - Establish contacts with the relevant customs administrations and other authorities in Asia in order to promote better understanding - Discussing with customs administrations and others ways of simplifying the law and mitigating unfairness in customs matters to members, from the practical experience gained within the group. By sharing experiences, best practices, regulations updates, and common issues, this new workgroup is designed to help supply chain, logistics and procurement professionals from sometimes competing companies to work together to identify where synergies exist, learn from each other and accelerate the improvement of customs and trade compliance “systems” in Asia. Why this workgroup is different? - Unlike committees organized by the Chambers of Commerce, this workgroup series is strictly restricted to supply chain, logistics and procurement who have interest or direct responsabilities in customs, trade compliance and taxes. - This workgroup is also organized in an "informal" setting (e.g. selected quiet restaurants downtown) as good food (and drinks) tend to foster discussion and "openness" between the participants. Please note that this workgroup is strictly reserved to practitioners from the industry. Any vendors like bankers, headhunters, 3PLs, freight forwarders, IT/software or consultants are not allowed to attend and will be rejected from these workgroup discussion. If you are a professional consultant and wish to share your expertise at this discussion, the Council welcomes submissions for speech and workshops, contact us directly for more information.
