Event Description If you are directly responsible for global sourcing or procurement, join us for a new global sourcing workgroup on August 7, 2008 in Shanghai. For this new discussion, the Council is pleased to invite Kevin Gromley, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Manufacturing at Deloitte Consulting Shanghai to share the results of thier latest survey. Managing Sourcing Risks in Emerging Markets Each year, Deloitte's Global Manufacturing practice conducts an annual survey on trends in emerging markets. This year's survey focused on trends related to the risks of sourcing from China and other emerging markets. The series of well-publicized product quality failures over the last year has brought the questions of risk and risk management into sharp relief. The Deloitte study, which captures the views of more than 650 global executives, explores how manufacturers from developed and developing countries view and handle their exposure to risk stemming from sourcing in emerging markets - and how the most successful companies are working to manage this risk and turning it to a competitive advantage. Why our workgroups are different?
- Unlike committees organized by the Chambers of Commerce, this workgroup series is strictly restricted to sourcing and procurement professionals. Any vendors like bankers, headhunters, 3PLs, freight forwarders, IT/software or consultants are not allowed in these discussions. - This workgroup series is also organized in an "informal" setting (e.g. selected quiet restaurants) as good food (and drinks) tend to foster discussion and "openness" between the participants. Please note that this workgroup is strictly reserved to members of the Council and responsible for global procurement and sourcing in China. Any vendors like bankers, headhunters, 3PLs, freight forwarders, IT/software or consultants are not allowed in this workgroup discussion and will be rejected at the door.Date: August 7, 2008
