Event Description
You and your colleagues are invited to join the Council for a new Pharmaceutical Procurement & Sourcing Workgroup on June 23 in Shanghai.
The discussion will start with a networking lunch, then be followed by a closed-door meeting covering the following issues and various points:
AGENDA
1. Introduction of new members and visitors/Organization of sourcing activities in companies:
Categories covered/planned: Raw and Packaging Materials, Contract Manufacturing Services and Finished Goods, Clinical R&D Services & Clinical Samples, Drug Discovery R&D
2. Key challenges internal in China and in global company organization, external in China with providers and vendors
3."BURNING" issues:
- Logistics Restrictions during Beijing Olympics, Countermeasures
Hazard Materials Regulations and Restrictions during Beijing Olympics, Countermeasures
- Enforced Export Restrictions for Specific Classified APIs and Intermediate Materials, e.g. Steroid Intermediates ("Anabolics") and "Psychotropic Drugs"
- New SFDA Announcements ("Technical Guidelines for Research Required for Alterations to Post-marketing Pharmaceutical Chemical Products (1)")
- Heparin Review and Establishment of US-FDA Representation in China (Alt.: Invite s.o. from FDA/US Emassy office or next opportunity)
- China Sourcing Review in Press (I suggest to invite J. Tremblay from C&ENews)
- Cost Development
- Learnings from Experiences

Why our workgroups are different?
- Unlike committees organized by the Chambers of Commerce, this workgroup series is strictly restricted to supply chain, logistics and procurement from the pharmaceutical sector.
- This workgroup series is also organized in an "informal" setting (e.g. selected quiet restaurants) as good food (and drinks) tend to foster discussion and "openness" between the participants.
Please note that this workgroup is strictly reserved to pharmaceutical industry executives. Any vendors like bankers, headhunters, 3PLs, freight forwarders, IT/software or consultants are not allowed in this workgroup discussion and will be rejected at the door.
Date: June 23, 2008
Time: 12:15 noon to pm 4 in the afternoon
Venue: to be confirmed. In order to protect the discussion from vendors or consultants interference, registered delegates will be informed on the exact location one day before the event.
Price: Pay what you order, set lunch usually about 100 RMB.
