Event Description

China is choking on its success at attracting the world's factories. That has handed its Asian neighbours a big opportunity and Vietnam is becoming a very attractive alternative.

As a vote of confidence in Vietnam, the decision by Intel early in 2006 to spend $350m building a new factory in the emerging South-East Asian economy was hard to beat. And yet, before the year was out, the American chipmaker went further and raised its investment to $1 billion. In just 8 months Intel had committed as much money to Vietnam as it had to China in the previous 10 years!

To coincide with the launch of the the Council in Vietnam and a new web portal specifically dedicated to supply chain management in the Greater Mekong area, the Council is pleased to invite you to a new roadshow to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on June 23-25, 2008.

The program will provide an opportunity for an edutourism experience for participants who are interested in learning some of key lessons from the Vietnam's market. The tour will include presentations, discussions and visits of the most interesting facilities in Ho Chi Minh.

Join a selected group of senior executives in this mission to Vietnam to:
- learn the latest about Vietnam supply chain and logistics;
- visit key manufacturing, logistics and retail facilities and formats;
- gain experiences from local and foreign companies already operating in Vietnam.

Itinerary:
During this trip, we will organize a full range of activities including sites visits, business forum, roundtable discussion, cocktail networking party and visits of interesting manufacturing and logistics facilities.

Pricing:
We have now confirmed the price of US$ 480 per person for overseas delegates to take part in the entire program. Site visits, bus transportation, forum, seminar, networking mixer and working lunches will be included in this fee but the airfare from China to Vietnam, hotel accommodation and dinners are excluded.

Limited Seats:
In order for this business tour to be effective, only 30 participants will be accepted. Our goal is to meet the targeted needs of individual participants and where appropriate, provide match making services and arrange business meetings with Vietnamese enterprises, retailers and other business leaders.

Sandeep Abrol, Bosch

"An eye-opening opportunity for many of us who have yet established a strong footprint in this fast growing emerging economy. Although, many challenges presently exist, we all witness the energy of the young talents, the enthusiastic desire of many to excel. Vietnam will soon be a vigorous alternative for global business expansion, or materials sourcing."
Quang Tran, DSM Sourcing

"It really helped to see the infrastructure issues first-hand. The roadshow was a great opportunity to meet some of the key players in Vietnam. The presentations sponsored by the VSCC were insightful and well done; I learned a lot about the opportunities as well as the risks going into Vietnam!"
